Join SAGE member and writer Tyler Truman Julian for a writing workshop, asking: Does life imitate art or does art imitate life? Ekphrasis is a way to capture real life and art on the page. We'll spend the day (+ a follow up evening) writing what we see and how it changes what what we think and feel.

About the event
In this workshop, we'll spend one full day (and a follow-up evening) in and out of the SAGE Community Art Center writing about what we see and how it changes what we think and feel. We'll spend the morning practicing writing vivid, descriptive images out in the community while learning about and reading work from writers who practice ekphrasis (“description” in Greek). After a lunch break, the afternoon will bring us back to SAGE and in front of the pieces in the current gallery show, where we'll employ the skills practiced earlier in the day to write poems and vignettes about the pieces in front of us. Later, we will have a poetry reading in the gallery. Writers at all points in their careers are welcome to join, and both poetry and prose writers are welcome.
Workshop Sat, April 2: 10 am - 3 pm
